Born in 1965 in Stoke on Trent England, he was named Saul Hudson. His parents who were an inter-racial couple split when he was young, a friend of his father named him Slash. In 1976 at the age of 11, he emigrated to Hollywood with his father Anthony. He never really fitted in and never aspired to be a musician, he just loved music. Slash became hooked on guitar after he met a friend at school, Steven Adler.

Slash took to drink and drugs, and at one point he stayed in his apartment for three months, never talking to anybody he had "Stepped off the edge". Slash spends his time with his ten snakes (Boas and Pythons), they are housed in a customised serpentarium and are fed on anything furry and alive. Like Steven, Slash lives to be on the road and is only happy when doing so.
